Dixie amazes me every time! We went this afternoon to Dixie's to have Holland's 12 month photos. Going every month to have Dixie take Holland's portraits has been wonderful. Holland changes every month and this has been such a blessing to have Dixie capture it all for us. She is also making an album of all the photos she's taken of Holland. It will be wonderful! About today..... Dixie sent me a link about these tutu dresses on etsy.com. I ordered one and it was great! Holland looked like the perfect fairy in it. The other setting/outfit we used was a cute pink dress with birthday gift bags and a birthday cake. So cute! Here is one photo Dixie took today. It's absolutely lovely! Thank you so much Dixie!

1 year doctor appt
Holland had her 12 month appt today. It went great! She weighs 22 lbs and 12 oz, which is in the 75th percentile. Holland is 31 inches long, which puts her in the 100th percentile. No colds, no ear infections, lungs and chest were clear. Dr. Mike said she is growing perfectly. He is impressed she is walking, talking so much, and even tells us when she poo poos. We can start introducing whole milk and weaning off of formula. She got 2 shots and we are holding off on the MMR vaccine until later, as a precaution.
We are very blessed to have such a healthy happy baby!

Happy Father's Day!
Father's Day started out great. We all three got to sleep in, gave Kirk his cards and gift, and ate a great lunch. After lunch, it went down hill. Kirk went out to feed the cattle and while doing so, he found one cow that had apparently been bit by a snake on 2 legs. Both of the legs had already gone through the swelling process and had turned into huge open wounds. Kirk and Cousin Clayton tried to get her in the trailer, but she wasn't having it. Maybe Kirk can get her in the pen tomorrow and get her over to the vet. We got home from the cattle just in time for Kirk to shower and get ready to go to work.
Happy Father's Day!!!

1st Birthday Party
Holland's 1st birthday party was fun. I never had any idea how tired you can feel after throwing a birthday party. After the cleaning, decorating, partying, and then cleaning again, we are exhausted. The Zoo theme was so cute! We even had a sign out on the front yard and all the coordinating decorations. We had a sandwich tray and chips for everyone.
After eating, we opened gifts. Holland was involved for just a few of the gifts. All the cousins had to come help because Holland was too involved with a card.
After cake, we had a pull string pinata that was fun for the kids. Even Holland enjoyed squishing the candy with her hands. Then they played Wii Dance Dance Revolution. What a day! Holland is actually taking a quick nap right now. She was so exhasted after all the festivities. I think she had a great first birthday! Can't wait for her 2nd birthday!

On to birthday cake! Holland did not make a mess at all. I think once she got the icing on her hands, she felt a little icky, so she would only eat the cake if we fed it to her. She's a dainty one year old girl!

Holland is 1 year old!
I can't believe it's been 1 year since Holland was born. We decided to make a week of celebrations for Holland so on Wednesday we took her to the Ft Worth Zoo. She behaved perfectly but I don't think she enjoyed it as much as we did. Maybe next year she will enjoy watching the animals instead of the people.
After the Zoo, we went to our hotel. We wanted to have another first for her. First time in the swimming pool. We got her a really good infant floaty and she loved it. It was fun for about 10 minutes and then she passed out.

During this week, she started getting in her 3rd tooth, a top one. She is walking more and more. She actually said, "I poopoo" when she had a dirty diaper. She also can kinda say, "what's that?"
Tomorrow we have her birthday party. Pastel Zoo theme - so cute!

Coming up on 1 year.........
We are finalizing all the plans for Holland's first birthday party. I have a conference to go to next week so Kirk and Holland are going with. We are going down a day early and taking her to the Ft Worth Zoo. She loves animals and I think she will enjoy it. We will play it by ear as to how long we stay. I think she will be okay, though. She gets in her stroller and is great for hours. As long as she is moving, she's content. We also have the coolest baby floaty that has toys hanging from it that we are going to try out at the hotel pool. She loves water and bath time, so I hope she enjoys pool time. When we get back, we will have her birthday party. We are using baby's first birthday pastel zoo theme. So cute! We got everything from the hats to the highchair decorations. We even have an animal pinata that has streamers that you pull to get the candy out.
Holland is doing great! She's walking more and more, eats anything you put in front of her, she plays by herself for hours without anyone having to be around or entertaining her, and she is talking more. She says mama, dada, kitty kat, puppy, hi, bye, and says gra for grannie. She is also saying nana and papa to her sitter because that is what they are called. She plays patty cake and blows kisses. And talking about kisses........ man are they slobbery! She will surprise kiss you and leave your whole cheek wet. The best thing so far has been that she HAS NOT BEEN SICK! I thought as soon as she was born we would be in and out of the doctor's office for this and that. Nothing other than a little case of allergies a month ago. All we did was de-snot her and keep the humidifier around her and they cleared up. We haven't spent a single night apart from Holland. I guess after her 1st birthday, we might feel okay about letting her stay the night somewhere else. :)
We are very blessed!

Walking a little more
Holland is getting better at walking every day! She sneaks walking when I'm not looking, but I was lucky enough to catch this time on video. She does have shorts, but the last time I had changed her diaper, she didn't want her shorts back on.

4 Generational portrait
Dixie came out yesterday to take a generational portrait of Mommer, Mom, Holland, and me in Mom's backyard. It was getting cloudy and the bugs were all out, but Dixie took some awesome shots. Here is one of our favorites.
Thank you so much Dixie! You're awesome!

Starting to walk
Holland just took 3 steps all by herself just a bit ago. Of course it happened so fast that Kirk and I were just very quiet so we didn't scare her. So, I don't have a picture or video of it. But, I'll catch the next time she does it! I'm excited, but yet I'm scared. She already crawls so fast that I can't keep up. I'm dreading when she starts to run!
