Britton is 5!!!

Britton is now 5 years old!  This precious girl is so special.  She so smart and funny and lights up our life.  Can't imagine life without her. She's reading KG-1st grade level books and she's only in PK. She can write us letters and has the most amazing memory. She is so wonderful!

Halloween Princesses

The girls picked Disney Princesses yet again for Halloween.  Holland picked the new Cinderella wedding gown and Britton picked Belle.  We had a busy day.  Went to the school carnival, church carnival and then trick or treating.  The girls were even in our county newspaper!

Couch to 5K

Last summer when we moved in with Mom, I started the couch to 5K plan.  I was so out of shape but really loved getting out and getting back to running.  I was a runner in high school and loved it.  Something about being out and letting your mind go free was something I was needing.  I totally enjoyed it!  After finishing the training schedule it was time to sign up for 5Ks.  First up was ROC the Falls.  Cousin Kristy ran it with me.  It was a mud/obstacle 5K and we loved it!

Next up was the Glow Run 5K.  Kristy ran with me and Kirk got to participate in this one but had to walk. He had a stress fracture during the summer and couldn't train and was on crutches for weeks.

The very next night Kristy, George (my best friend and C25K training buddy), and I ran the Zombie 5K.  Creepy!!!

Kristy and I ran the Color Run 5K and it was a blast!  Can't wait to do this one again!!

I was wanting to push myself so George and I signed up for the Holiday Hustle 10K.  Yeah, I'm really a 5K kind of girl.

After being sick a bit and taking a few months off, it was time to get back to running.  Next up was the Pole to Pole 5K in San Diego.  This was a family affair.  Holland did great running.  Britton just wasn't feeling it.  She's more of a let me be carried kind of girl.

The next 5K was T.H.O.R obstacle/mud run.  It was really awesome!  Kristy, Kirk and I ran together as a group.  George ran in an earlier heat.  I didn't get really muddy, but it was really fun and cold!

Easter, Easter, and more Easter

Easter this year was on steroids or so it seemed to be to Kirk and I.  I think we had 6 egg hunts to attend.  I was in charge of Holland's class and school wide egg hunt and that was insane getting ready for it.  First up was the church egg hunt.  Family, friends, and good fun!

Britton had a class Easter party and egg hunt.  She just loves to party. :)

Next up, Holland's class party.  I was Room Mom for this one and organized it.  Hopefully the kids had fun!

So now on to the PTCO Egg Hunt.  I remember this when I was a kid and thought it was time to bring it back.  Well I should never sign up for stuff like this as I go crazy trying to plan it all.  4,000+ eggs later and it was a success!  The kids loved it!  This doesn't look like over 4,000 eggs but it is.  And probably about 99% of them we had to stuff.

Easter Sunday!

Easter lunch and egg hunt with the Jentsches

Easter supper and egg hunt with the Holland Family!

And of course we made our Sugar Eggs this year!

San Diego

San Diego...... a whale's ???... in the words of Ron Burgandy or as Kirk says every time someone says San Diego.  We went to Cali to visit my sister who is stationed out there.  We only had 4 days but we made the most of it.  Day 1 consisted of flights and seeing MCRD.  That is the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.  It was exactly 15 years to the day that Kirk first stepped foot on to MCRD and we had to go check it out.  It's amazing it's been 15 years since he enlisted and was an active duty Marine.  Here is Kirk at the parade deck.  Only Marines in uniform can step foot on it.  It's huge!  Like several football fields long.

We checked into our hotel and then went over to visit Kate and the family.  The kids played and it was so awesome to see Ella crawling!  The next morning we went to the San Diego Zoo.  The kids loved it!

After the Zoo, we headed over to Point Loma.  Saw the tide pools and walked around.  It's amazing!

Day 3 consisted of going to check out all the Navy ships and Kirk got to see one of his Marine buddies, Cory.  It was like old times for these two!  Part of the tour of this ship was the kids got to answer questions and at the end receive their wings.  It was so cute.  The girls were hot and tired but yet finished with a salute.

Kirk went with Cory to see some sites and catch up.  The girls and I went with Kate and her family to the Navy beach.  Girls played for hours.  I got to sit on the beach and relax.  It was awesome!

Day 4 was our last day and yet it was the most amazing day!  All 8 of us did the Pole to Pole 5K at Sea World San Diego.  It was so much fun!  We ran the 5K in Sea World and they brought some animals out along the path.  Way fun!  #familyselfie

And now the coolest part!  They had a penguin out for us to see after the run.  This is why I wanted to do the run!  When I saw this little lady, #148 (her name is a number), I was so excited the penguin handler asked me why I was so excited to see this little girl?  I told him that I absolutely love penguins and the opportunity to see one this close was why we scheduled our trip from Texas out to San Diego around this 5K.  He was so nice that he asked me if I wanted to pet or hold a penguin and I of course screamed yes!  15 minutes later our group of 8 were inside the penguin enclosure and I was holding a penguin! Words can't describe how happy I was.  I cried afterwards.  It was an amazing moment in my life.  I just love love love penguins!!!

Bucketlist item checked off!  I LOVE penguins!
